Urgent: Medicaid Faces Significant Funding Cuts

Right now, the United States Congress is considering significant cuts to Medicaid as part of their proposed budget. These funding cuts would have significant impacts across our region, and could prevent some people from accessing life-saving care. Some of the populations at risk include:

  • Children - 47% of children in Washington are on Medicaid

  • Farmers

  • Folks with chronic conditions and disabilities

  • Senior and elderly individuals, including those in nursing or assisted living facilities

  • Rural communities

What can you do?

  • Reach out to our elected officials to advocate for Medicaid funding. We have a form letter you can easily submit, below.

  • Call your elected representatives and senators using the 5 calls app - available at 5calls.org.

  • Share on social media! We’ve created images that can be downloaded and shared on social media platforms.

Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health (SWACH) is committed to transforming health outcomes in Clark, Klickitat, and Skamania counties through our robust Policy Advocacy program. We recognize that true health equity can only be achieved by addressing the root causes of health disparities, and we're dedicated to making a lasting impact. Our approach is multifaceted and community-centered:

  • We leverage data-driven decision-making to identify key areas for intervention

  • We foster community-led civic engagement, ensuring that local voices are heard and respected

  • We mobilize community health workers and advocates, empowering them to drive change from within

  • We build strategic partnerships to amplify our impact and reach

At SWACH, we're not just advocating for better health and well-being—we're pushing for systemic changes that promote social justice and empower communities that have historically been marginalized by inequitable policies. Our ultimate goal is to create inclusive systems where every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to achieve optimal health, well-being, and self-empowerment.
