SWACH participating in Fentanyl Prevention and Overdose Awareness Day

Southwest Washington Accountable Community of Health (SWACH) will participate in Fentanyl Prevention and Overdose Awareness Day on August 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event is a crucial step in addressing the ongoing opioid epidemic and honoring those lost to overdose.

The day will begin with a memorial walkthrough, offering a space for reflection and remembrance. Following this, a community event will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., providing opportunities for education, support, and connection.

The event is open to the public and aims to foster a sense of community while promoting awareness about the dangers of fentanyl. SWACH is encouraging the community to attend and participate in this important day.

As an organization, SWACH is committed to combating the opioid crisis through various initiatives. By utilizing data to identify high-risk areas, fostering strong community partnerships, and promoting harm reduction strategies, SWACH has been instrumental in making a positive impact. A key component of our efforts includes increasing access to naloxone through our Narcan vending machines placed throughout the region and offering comprehensive Narcan training programs.

This year, SWACH’s Fentanyl Prevention and Overdose Awareness Day takes place prior to the International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. This global event aims to end overdose, remember those lost, and acknowledge the grief of families impacted.

SWACH’s event will take place at the O.O. Howard House, 750 Anderson St. A, Vancouver, WA 9866 on Wednesday, August 21. For more information, click here.
